Modified Aluminium Tube Profile to Enhance the Performance of Impact Energy Absorption

The use of thin-walled structures as impact energy absorbers are well known. thin aluminum cylinder tube is a good absorber. However, the energy-absorbing design must also have sufficient toughness. In this research, we made modifications to improve performance tube. cylinder's modification prepared by adding four grooves along wall in axial direction. Numerical modeling was carried out using finite element method. test  applying high speed 50 m/s hammer that hits direction's specimen. Explicit dynamic analysis used modeling. reaction force obtained measuring fixed support at end total function time received simulation. explicit simulation results show toughness modified specimens increased compared original model. amount per unit start collision appears be higher. Likewise, deformation specimen shorter than Thus, until collision's end, provides better and absorption energy.
